2009 Admission Cycle is Now Open. New Application Deadline is November 3, 2008.
Planning for the Application Process

If you are a ULM Student, please meet with an advisor in the Student Success Center to plan your semester coursework and application timeline. Be sure to evaluate the application pre-requisites often and pay close attention to the application rules and minimum requirements as your application process begins.

If you are a transfer student from an out-of-state college/university or other Louisiana institution, please note that equivalent courses may or may not be available at your current place of enrollment. For most Louisiana institutions, we have established an equivalency table for the specified pre-requisite coursework. If your current place of enrollment is not found in this table, that means we do not have information available to establish an equivalency at this time. In order to receive equivalent credit at such an institution, you must provide to us via U.S. Mail, the following items:

  1. A cover letter detailing the specific equivalency requested (be sure to include a specific course to course requests, example: I would like to substitute BIOL 223 at USC for BIOL 214 at ULM);
  2. A current academic catalog from your current institution;
  3. From your current institution, class syllabi from the department responsible for the course instruction (a syllabus from each course found in the cover letter must be included).

These materials will be evaluated by the Office of Student and Professional Affairs within the College of Pharmacy. A recommendation will be forwarded to the College's curriculum committee for further evaluation. Confirmation or denial of your request will be sent to you via electronic or U.S. Mail. Submission of a request does not guarantee acceptance of an equivalency.

Application Process

The application process consists of 3 steps:

Step 1

Evaluate selection criteria.

Step 2

Complete the needed applications.

Step 3

What to do after your application.

Step 1: SELECTION CRITERIA

All students applying to the program compete for space in the class. Each year, the College of Pharmacy receives more applications than there are available seats in the entering class. Applicants are considered on the basis of above average performance on a national standardized exam, a personal interview, and their academic transcripts. Below we have listed some preferred criteria for your consideration:

  1. Completion of the pre-pharmacy requirements (page 131) with no grade less than “C”;

  2. Possess a pre-requisite and cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.000 or higher (uncorrected, based on a 4.0 system) in all previous coursework undertaken, exclusive of developmental courses, whether passed or failed at all institutions of attendance;

  3. Possess a PCAT composite score, percentile rank of 40% or higher;

  4. Possess a minimum score of 3 or higher on the PCAT writing assessments.

PLEASE NOTE: For the 2009 admission cycle, the College of Pharmacy will accept the best PCAT (composite score, percentile rank) attempt from 2 years prior and up to and including the October 2008 PCAT test date. In addition, meeting the above criteria DOES NOT guarantee your acceptance into the College of Pharmacy Professional Program. The admissions process is a competitive one, in which offers are made to the best candidates.

Step 2:  NEEDED APPLICATIONS

1. Completion of the PharmCAS Application and fee by November 3, 2008

2. Completion of the ULM Undergraduate Admissions process by November 3, 2008.

  • You will be completing an UNDERGRADUATE application for admission.

  • You will be listing PRE-PHARMACY as the major.

(Please note that successful admittance to ULM does not guarantee admissions into the professional pharmacy program.)

3. Completion of the College of Pharmacy Supplemental Application and fee by November 3, 2008. You will need your PharmCas ID and your ULM Campus Wide ID (CWID) in order to complete this process.

Step 3:  AFTER APPLYING

After e-submitting your PharmCAS Application and completing your Supplemental Application:

Check with PharmCAS

Check with PharmCAS to make sure all transcripts have been received by them. All transcripts must be submitted, even if you had taken one course at another institution.

PharmCAS will not submit your application to us until all official transcripts are received. Official Transcripts must be received by PharmCAS by the November 3, 2008 deadline. We recommend submitting transcripts and applying early to ensure that all required materials meet the deadline.

All application status information will be communicated through your PharmCAS account.  Please check your PharmCAS account for your current application status.  We will be using email as the primary means of communication with you.  We will let you know via email when we have received your electronic application once it has been verified by PharmCAS.  We will also communicate any and all admissions related information to you using the contact information you have provided.  Please make sure your email account will receive emails from eadams@ulm.edu.  You may consider placing this address in your Address Book to prevent important emails from being filtered accidentally.  Also, please provide a cell number contact, if available, in your PharmCAS application as we may need to reach you quickly.
