Jonathan K. Hanchey

Present Responsibilities

Keith is a pharmacist with over 25 years of healthcare experience who joined Ernst & Young in 2002, as part of Health Sciences Advisory Services.  Keith plays a pivotal role on the team that developed the tools and methodology that E&Y utilizes on PHSA drug discount programs.  He is also part of an E&Y team examining the impacts of the Medicare Modernization Act on the Hospital Based and Clinic based Medical Oncology services.  He continues to lead the development of the knowledge around the reimbursement issues, coding and patient flow impacts that the changes in the Act are bringing about.

Experience

Before joining the firm, he had been a part of the business consulting practice of a national professional services firm in Dallas.  The focus of the practice group was healthcare supply chain. Projects that Keith managed included:  a five hospital system in a turnaround crisis requiring non-labor and labor cost reductions; and two health systems that were facing financial challenges with the goal being to reduce costs and enhance collected revenue in both the hospital and retail service.   Prior to that, Keith was president of a marketing/distribution company that developed patented or licensed products for the medical market.

From 1990 to 1996, Keith was a principal in a firm that managed critically ill hospitals. The hospitals ranged in size from 100 beds to 250 beds and all were in turnaround situations. The company provided management services, developed PPOs, did bond issues and provided real estate development in some cases.  Keith has also owned two pharmacy related companies in his career.


Education and Affiliations

Has been member of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (served as a Council Chairman and Council member) and the Texas Society of Health System Pharmacists.

Was President of the Texas Society and of the Research and Education Foundation

Served as adjunct faculty to the University of Texas College of Pharmacy and was a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council

Was chair of the Practitioner Advisory committee that was responsible for the writing of the Texas Pharmacy Law in the 1980s

Has spoken to numerous professional conferences and has been published in professional literature
